Can I wear a Hijab to Reformer class?Yes of course you can. You just need to make sure it is securely pinned and/or tucked into your clothing to make sure it doesn't get caught in the Reformer springs. The same applies to clients with long hair. Putting long hair into a high bun or plaits minimises the risk of getting it tangled (ouch).

What do I need to wear? You don't need to wear designer active wear to take a class at Prominence Pilates Studios. A T shirt and leggings is absolutely fine. It's important that your clothing lets you move freely but shouldn't be too loose as it may get caught in the equipment. For every class, you need to wear Pilates grip socks.

Am I too old to start Pilates? It's never too late to start Pilates! As long as you are physically fit and can climb the stairs to the studio you can book onto any mixed ability class. If you have any underlying health conditions or you're worried about joining a class, a 1 to 1 might be more suitable. Classes and 1 to 1's can be booked online and you simply book and turn up.

Is Pilates suitable for men?Pilates is a great form of exercise for men to take up either on its own or to complement another activity. In truth, the benefits are the same for men and women, e.g. improved strength, mobility, flexibility but Pilates can be the perfect antidote to over training some muscle groups instead of all of them. Men can join any mixed-ability class in the mornings, lunchtimes or evenings. They can also book a private 1 to 1 with any of our Instructors.

Are there any women-only classes? We run women-only classes in the afternoons when all our studios are free. This provides the privacy some of our clients want and offers the flexibility to use the Pilates equipment from all three studios.
